We are joined once again by our friend Peter Grubbe, from Middlebury Farms. Together, in an informal discussion, we give our opinions and perspectives on recent developments in the Organic industry regarding “Organic” Hydroponics, and animal welfare regulations for Poultry.

Both topics have been covered in a concise breakdown on the blog:
Organic Hydroponics –intellectualagrarian.com/2017/11/06/w…n-standards/
Animal Welfare Standards – intellectualagrarian.com/2017/11/10/c…preferences/

Show Notes

  • “Organic” hydroponics are based on Organic approved inputs and seeds
  • Hydroponics are unsustainable
  • There are no defined indoor or outdoor space requirements for Organic Poultry
  • The minimum standards for outdoor access are not followed
  • 2/3 of the Organic Eggs on the market likely couldn’t be certified under the Organic Livestock and Poultry Practices Standards (OLPP)
